PRI's Approach to Paranormal Investigation
PRI does not go into investigations trying to prove the existence of "ghosts". We believe that such a goal leads to heavily biased, unscientific (and, in many cases, completely inaccurate) conclusions. Rather, PRI takes a sceptical approach to all of its investigations. Our main goal is to find natural (or non-paranormal) causes of reported phenomena. In doing so, we strengthen the credibility of any unexplained (paranormal) phenomena that we may record.
Each PRI investigation utilizes a scientific methodology. While we find sensory experiences to be interesting, our goal is to capture evidence that we can analyse and share with other researchers and the public. PRI investigators attempt to capture such evidence through the use of audio recorders and cameras (both video and still). Other devices such as EMF meters and thermometers are also used in an effort to measure fluctuations in environmental conditions, which may be the result of paranormal activity (or may be responsible for experiences that have been misidentified as being paranormal).
Following each investigation, we carefully analyse all of the evidence collected. We will look at each piece of evidence critically, searching for non-paranormal causes. If a recorded phenomenon cannot be satisfactorily explained by a natural cause, we will consider it to be possible evidence of paranormal activity.
"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth" (Sherlock Holmes in Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle's The Sign of the Four, 1890 ).
NOTE: PRI does not condone trespassing or any other unlawful or potentially harmful actions. Respect for the law, property, and personal safety always take priority above the collection of evidence.
